Hunt County Senior Commodities Distribution offers commodity boxes to individuals 60 and over living in Hunt County. Join us on the 1st Friday after the first Wednesday of the month from 10:00am – 12:00 pm at 301 Hwy 224, Commerce, TX. Individuals must qualify. To do so bring photo Id, and SS Card to distribution OR take to Commerce Food Bank, Monroe St. on any Thursday between 2:00pm and 4:00pm. Also offered at this time will be Bread of Life Food Pantry boxes. Volunteers are needed to help with distribution and donations are always welcome. Thank you. Bread of Life Food Pantry distributes free food to those in need. Located at 301 Hwy 224, Commerce, TX. Most boxes consist of canned vegetables, rice, pasta, peanut butter, cereal, juice, and canned meat. We also offer frozen meat, bread and fresh produce when in stock. New clients bring a photo ID and proof of address. For example, current utility bill. Our distribution days are the first Friday after the first Wednesday 10:00am – 2:00pm for seniors 60 plus, and everyone younger from 12:00pm – 2:00pm and on the 3rd Wed of the month from 5:00pm – 8:00pm. The town government operates now with a select board, town manager and Town Meeting, without a town charter. The purpose of a charter, in general, is to define the powers, functions and procedures of municipal government. New Gloucester supporters of a town charter said previously that it will give residents more oversight of their local government and increase transparency in town affairs.
New Gloucester Charter Commission race draws 11 candidates
New Gloucester residents will vote for six residents to join the Charter Commission, which holds a term of up to 24 months.
