McDONOUGH COUNTY A resident who was arrested on March 2, held for 20 hours and then released by the State’s Attorney without any charges is alleging local police racially profiled her and her husband and violated their rights.
“I will never forget this, because it was my husband’s birthday,” Magen Kelly said.
Kelly, who is Black, said in interviews with the Voice that she and husband Corey Kelly, a multi-ethnic war veteran, were racially profiled and targeted for what the police report described as a “random registration check” as they made their way home through Macomb. She called dispatch twice, asking for a supervisor after they were stopped. During the calls, she expressed fear for her safety.

A $3 million change order for the company that runs Augusta’s wastewater treatment plan is drawing questions as it heads to the Augusta Commission for approval.

STATESBORO, Ga. (WTOC) - Multiple suspects were arrested after an undercover prostitution sting in Statesboro.
According to the Statesboro Police Department, over the past week officers used social media to arrange “dates.”
The cases included prostitution (offering to commit a sexual act for money), pimping (aiding or facilitating a person in committing an act of prostitution), and pandering (soliciting a sexual act for money). Drugs and firearms which accompanied the participants were also seized, according to police.
SANTA ROSA BEACH Walton County commissioners will consider proposals for residential developments, a hotel and a bank when they meet Thursday for their monthly session dedicated to county planning issues.
The meeting is set to begin at 9 a.m. at the courthouse annex at 31 Coastal Centre Blvd. in Santa Rosa Beach. It also will be available online via Zoom teleconferencing at https://us02web.zoom.us/j/89555508937.
Among the major items on the agenda is the requested approval of a final order for construction of the Town Center mixed-use development. Plans for the development call for a 92-town home residential component the maximum allowed on the site along with a restaurant and a mixed-use structure with commercial spaces and 51 rooms for lodging.
