Photo supplied Talented craftspeople could access thousands of pounds worth of funding to become masters of their craft at a Warwickshire college group. The Queens Elizabeth Trust (QEST) is offering scholarship and apprenticeship funding of up to £18,000 to support excellence in British craftsmanship and the development of aspiring craftspeople. WCG (formerly Warwickshire College Group) is urging individuals across Warwickshire to apply for the grants and then get in touch to take a course at one of its colleges. Campaign to save Malvern Hills College holds promising meeting over future

MEETING: Cllr Tom Wells, Roger Bevan, Angela Joyce and Cllr Beverley Nielsen at their meeting PROGRESS is being made in finding a solution to save a county college from closure. The management of Malvern Hills College has been holding regular meetings with a group of local councillors, academics and business figures to try and prevent the planned 2021 closure of the college, announced last month by WCG. Since then, chairman of the Malvern Hills College SOS Task Group, Beverley Nielsen and Cllr Tom Wells, founder of the Task Group, met with Angela Joyce, CEO and deputy principal of WCG, Roger Bevan on December 14 to discuss possible solutions.

24hr Fundraiser for injured award winning Uckfield based Ferrier

We have been very saddened to learn that award winning Uckfield based Ferrier Declan Emmerson has been involved in a tragic accident at work, the 29 year old won an outstanding apprentice award from the Warwickshire College Group in 2016 and has his own business Declan suffered a horrendous accident whilst at work, in March where he was kicked in the face by a horse. The accident resulted in numerous fractures to his skull and jaw as well as several fractured teeth. Declan had to be hospitalised for five days. Fortunately, he has recovered well however he is still suffering from pain due to his moved and broken teeth. The dental work which is required will cost thousands of pounds and although he has reached out to the appropriate charities for farriers who suffer injury at work, he has not been able to get the help he needs.
