Eleven photographers explore black and white in annual exhibition

David Unwin/Stuff The exhibition runs until July 2 at Square Edge Community Arts. This is Hunt’s fourth year participating. This is its 10th year and the theme is black and white. It opened in the front gallery of Square Edge Community Arts on June 2 and runs until July 2. Summer Hunt, known as Summer Sparkles Photography, wanted to explore the idea people are all different shades of grey in New Zealand. She wanted a model that would represent a blending of culture, one that was not obviously European or Māori. The background of the photograph contained colonially influenced items, such as handmade doilies, native bush and feathers.
