Fire Destroys Washington Potato Structure in Warden [VIDEO]
A fire at Washington Potato prompted the evacuation of several homes in the Warden area Thursday evening. The fire destroyed a large commercial building at the plant.
No one was injured in the blaze. The fire reportedly started in the processing plant s dehydrator at about 5:30 pm.
Warden Police and fire departments from Grant County and Adams County responded to the fire.
All those evacuated were permitted to return to their homes Friday morning. Police ask that you respect all traffic barricades.
Firefighters will remain on the scene throughout the day.

Fire destroys large potato plant in Grant County
A massive fire that forced evacuations in the town of Warden Thursday night is under control, but the potato plant is likely a total loss.
WARDEN, Wash. - Evacuation orders have been lifted after a massive fire at a potato plant in Grant County, but firefighters fear the area s major employer is a total loss.
Kyle Foreman with the Grant County Sheriff s Office said the fire started at Washington Potato Company about 5:30 p.m. A few hours later, the county evacuated much of the town of Warden because a large ammonia tank was at risk of exploding.
