THE results are finally in for the Public Services Association (PSA) election, which was held on Monday, and incumbent president Watson Duke and his Game Changers team were victorious with 1,758 votes.
The results took longer than expected as one presiÂding offiÂcer said special votes slowed the process as the votes had to be counted one by one for each team.
The Express understands the official results will be made public today by election officer Selwyn Malcom.
Second in the race for the PSA presidency was leader of the UniÂted Public Officers slate Oral Saunders, with 562 votes.
The other contenders for president were Curtis Cuffie (Concerned Public Officers), who got 267 votes; Ian Murray (Labour Warriors), with 264; Nixon Callender (Team Sentinel) collected 250; and Gregory Cova (Premium Value) received 319 votes.
Official PSA election results yet to be declared

After more than a day of counting ballots, the official results of the Public Services Association (PSA) elections were not declared up to 6 pm on Tuesday.
Speaking with Newsday earlier on Tuesday, sitting PSA president Watson Duke predicted the last of the ballots should have been counted by 5 pm but officials were unable to give any confirmation on an official winner up to an hour later.
Newsday understands the PSA s election officer Selwyn Malcolm was the only person counting ballots which led to the slow pace of results.
The election which was held on Monday was the result of three years of legal battles which began when former candidate Solomon Gabriel filed a lawsuit over concerns of a flawed voters list in 2017.

Duke in lead in PSA elections

Sitting president of the Public Services Association (PSA) Watson Duke is in the lead in the union s elections, according to figures released by the association as of 11 am on Tuesday.
Duke who has served as the leader of the PSA since 2008, was in the lead with 645 votes. Leader of the United Public Officers slate Oral Saunders followed with 381 votes.
Nixon Callender and Curtis Cuffie had received 183 and 169 votes respectively, while leader of the Labour Warriors Ian Murray had 167 votes.
Gregory Cova of the Premium Value team had 121 votes as of midday.

VOTING got under way on Monday morning in the Public Services Association (PSA) election, after the High Court at 1 am rejected an injunction seeking to stop it owing to concerns about the voters list.
Four presidential candidates agreed problems existed, but differed on how to go forward.
PSA president Watson Duke of the Game Changers slate said issues arising would not change the results. Among his rivals, Curtis Cuffie (Concerned Public Officers) said he had supported court action to stop the election to remedy the concerns, while Oral Saunders (United Public Officers) and Nixon Callendar (Team Sentinel) had concerns but were glad the election was going ahead.
