FIREFIGHTERS are battling a fire at a property in Thakeham, near Storrington. Crews were called to Linfield Copse shortly before 11.30am and remain on the scene trying to bring the flames under control. Teams from Billingshurst, Storrington and two from Worthing are currently in attendance. A spokesman for West Sussex Fire and Rescue Service said: “We are currently dealing with a fire involving a property in Linfield Copse, Thakeham. “Joint Fire Control was alerted at 11.26am and mobilised crews from Billingshurst, Storrington and two from Worthing to the scene along with the Aerial Ladder Platform from Horsham. “Firefighters wearing breathing apparatus are tackling the fire using two high pressure hose reels and a hydrant.

A HOTEL near an airport has been evacuated this afternoon due to a serious fire on the fifth floor. Fire crews remain at the scene this evening, having received reports of a fire at the Ibis Hotel in London Road in Crawley near Gatwick Airport shortly before 3pm. Pictures show clouds of smoke billowing from the building this afternoon.
