Cyclone Tauktae likely to hit Karachi, coastal belts with raindust, gusty winds

The Meteorological Department on Saturday issued an alert about the Cyclone Tauktae, saying that it will cause raindust and thunderstorms along with gusty winds in Karachi.
The alert reported that the intense low-pressure area over Southeast Arabian has intensified into a cyclonic storm – Tauktae – and lay centered at a distance of about 1,460 kilometres south-southeast of Karachi.
The weather department notification said that the maximum speed of the winds sustained around the cyclone have been recorded at 70-90 kilometres per hour and expected to reach 100 kilometres per hours.

The Meteorological Department on Tuesday said that Eid-ul-Fitr is likely to be observed in the country on Friday, as there are no chances of the moon being sighted on Wednesday. If the moon is not sighted on Wednesday Ramadan 29 then the holy month would be observed for 30 days, and the festival of Eid would be celebrated on May 14 Friday.
The met said the new moon of Shawwal would be born on crossing conjunction point at “00-01 PST on 12-05-2021.”
According to astronomical parameters, there is no chance of sighting the new moon of Shawwal, 1442 AH on the evening of May 12 Ramadan 29. The weather is expected to be fair/partly cloudy in most parts of the country, the Met department said. Jaipur, Jan 11: The Meteorological Department on Monday issued a yellow alert for cold wave in several areas of Rajasthan for the next 24 hours. Cold wave conditions prevailed in parts of the state as the minimum temperature dropped by up to four degrees Celsius in the last 24 hours.
On Sunday, Churu recorded 1.9 degrees Celsius night while Ganganagar registered a low of 3.9 degrees Celsius, showing a drop of three and four notches respectively against the previous night.
Similarly, the minimum temperature last night was 3.9 degrees Celsius in Pilani, 4 degrees Celsius in Sikar, 5 degrees Celsius in Barmer and Eran Road, 5.4 degrees Celsius in Bikaner, 6.8 degrees Celsius in Phalodi and 7.1 degrees Celsius in Jodhpur.
