It was a captain s run with a difference as sporting greats braved terrifying heights to put a spotlight on reducing suicide rates in the construction industry.
The daunting challenge, which took place 192m above busy central city streets at Auckland s SkyWalk yesterday afternoon, drew together a team of stars past and present from the realms of rugby union and league, golf, sailing and cricket to raise the profile of Mates in Construction, a charity dedicated to preventing suicide in the workplace.

When Covid-19 came to New Zealand, and level 4 lockdown abruptly followed, Sharonika Prasad lost much more than just her day-to-day freedom. Aged 19, newly moved out of the home in which she d long carried a heavy load of responsibilities, and starting a degree in occupational therapy at Auckland University of Technology North Shore, Prasad suddenly felt robbed of the milestones she d just passed. An Emmy-winning production designer has been found dead in her New York City home, under piles of rubbish.
Evelyn Sakash was a heavy hoarder , according to her family, and had not been seen in six months when she was found mummified under piles of rubbish in her kitchen this week.

Becoming a parent can be one of the most rewarding and challenging things that happen in life.
It s not unusual for a new parent to talk about how much they love their baby one minute, only to be longingly thinking back on how uncomplicated pre-baby life was the next.
