BritBox has ordered a second run of the rebooted Spitting Image
Sky Deutschland has ordered a localised version of UK satirical puppet sketch show Spitting Image, which was rebooted recently by streaming service BritBox.
The German version of the show will feature a 50/50 mix of content from the English-language version redubbed by German voice artists alongside new topical local sketches written by German comedy writers.
Featuring puppets of prominent national figures in Germany, the sketches will be filmed in the UK Spitting Image studio close to transmission this autumn to ensure maximum topicality.
Spitting Image recently returned to screens after being revived by comedy specialist Avalon for BBC Studios and ITV’s joint-venture streaming service BritBox, which ordered a second run of the reboot last year.

Work has already started on making the puppets of prominent national figures for local sketches that will be mixed with international content from the English original.
Jürgen Klopp and Angela Merkel will be revived from the first series, with new caricatures including Bavarian state president Markus Söder, Austria s Chancellor Sebastian Kurz and footballer Thomas Müller.
Though written and voice by Germans, the scenes will filmed in the UK close to the series being aired on Sky Deutschland. In Britain, the series will return to streaming service Britbox this autumn.
