Sky Germany Bolsters True-Crime Slate
Sky Germany has licensed a package of true-crime documentaries from Woodcut International that includes titles such as
Surviving a Serial Killer and
The Killer Within.
The Beverley Allitt Tapes and seasons two and three of
How I Caught the Killer. The docs will air on the Sky Crime channel, which launched in the territory earlier this month.
Koulla Anastasi, commercial director of Woodcut International, “We are delighted to announce this package deal and wish to congratulate Sky Germany on the successful launch of their new crime channel. As a producer, Woodcut Media continues to raise the bar with its factual content, and it’s a privilege to have some of these premium titles feature as part of this new channel’s offerings.”
The Battle for Britney: Fans, Cash and a Conservatorship next month.
The documentary will see BAFTA-winning journalist Mobeen Azhar examine the conservatorship that Spears (pictured) has been under for the last 13 years, featuring interviews with the pop star’s makeup artist Billy Brasfield, her former choreographer Brian Friedman, celebrity blogger Perez Hilton, lawyer Lisa MacCarley and Catherine Falk, daughter of
Columbo‘s Peter Falk, who was the subject of a conservatorship in his final years.
The Battle for Britney: Fans, Cash and a Conservatorship premieres May 11 and is produced by Forest. Laura Kaye is producer with Jeremy Lee serving as EP.
The murder rocked the quiet, Irish town and 24 years later, the case remains a mystery. The key suspect, English journalist Ian Bailey – the first reporter on the scene – was quickly arrested by local police following eye-witness reports, yet was never found guilty in Ireland, owing to a lack of reliable evidence. Despite this, Bailey was found guilty in absentia by the French courts in 2019 and sentenced to 25 years in prison. Having successfully fought repeated extradition requests from the French authorities, Bailey still resides in West Cork and maintains his innocence to this day.
A recent newfound public fascination occurred following the success of the West Cork podcast by English documentarian Jennifer Forde and investigative journalist Sam Bungey. Bailey maintains his innocence.
