University taps deputy dean to replace Bandas
Mark Bandas, Vanderbilt University s associate provost and dean of students, will retire in May after working 27 years at the West End Avenue institution.
G.L. Black, VU assistant provost and deputy dean of students, will assume the role at that point, according to Vanderbilt.edu.
Bandas’ experience with student life at Vanderbilt began when he worked toward a Ph.D. while serving as a resident adviser and living in the McGill Project on campus. After completing his doctorate at VU, Bandas undertook various academic positions at Tennessee State University, Northeast Missouri State University (now Truman State University) and the University of Richmond. He returned to Vanderbilt in 1994 as assistant dean of residential and judicial affairs. A resident of North House on campus for 27 years, Bandas was named to his current role in 2006.
