CALCIUM, N.Y. (WWNY) - In the north country, a good old fashioned chicken barbeque fundraiser is always popular. But add in the fact that it benefits some pups, and youâve got a busy event.
There was a long line at the BBQ fundraiser for our local K-9 officers. About 50 cars stretched around the road leading to the Calcium Fire Department.

Tajemar Brandon allegedly fired multiple shots at 26-year-old Christen Smith, who was in an upstairs window at 119 California Avenue.
Smith was not hurt.
According to city police, Brandon drove to the 100 block of California Avenue and, shortly before 9 p.m., fired the gun and fled the scene.
The house next door at 121 California appeared to have been struck by a stray bullet, they said.
Police said Brandon and Smith know each other, but wouldnât comment on a motive.

Watertown residents are demanding that local police be more accountable and transparent after public record requests revealed that Black residents are arrested at a rate five to six times higher than white residents.
Nearly 200 people attended a contentious virtual meeting of the Town Council’s Public Safety Committee late last month, when members of the Watertown Citizens for Black Lives group presented data and proposed several anti-racism initiatives they would like to see implemented within the department.

April 26
6:31 p.m.: Belmont Police and Fire responded to Central Rock Gym at 74 Acton St. for a Ford Edge on fire in the parking lot. A Jeep compass parked to the right and a Subaru outback on the left as well as the building, suffered burn damage. None of the vehicles were occupied. The fire was extinguished without injuries.
