Wetherspoons reveals the 12 Hertfordshire pubs set to reopen on April 12

Moon Under Water in Watford High Street JD Wetherspoon has revealed that 394 of its UK pubs will reopen on April 12 - and 12 of them are in Hertfordshire. Pubs will be allowed to serve punters outdoors from mid-April under the government s roadmap out of lockdown. People will no longer need to order a substantial meal with an alcoholic drink and there will be no curfew forcing pubs to close by a certain time. However, customers must order, eat and drink while seated. Wetherspoons, which has its headquarters in Watford, has confirmed its Moon Under Water pub in Watford High Street is among the pubs reopening in April, but Colombia Press in The Parade, The Pennsylvanian in Rickmansworth, and The Hart & Spool in Borehamwood will stay closed for the time being.

TfL scraps plans to make all stations cashless

Hertfordshire’s Liberal Democrat leader has welcomed Transport for London’s (TfL) U-turn on plans to make its stations cashless. Proposals to ban cash from all TfL stations – as a way of limiting the spread of Covid-19 – has been scrapped after concerns were raised from transport watchdog London Travel Watch and Watford’s Mayor. Mayor Peter Taylor previously said banning cash from ticket machines would cause “a lot of inconvenience” to passengers at some stations who are more than 400 metres way from a ‘ticket stop’ - a newsagents where passengers can buy a tube ticket or top up their Oyster.
