MADRID, N.Y. (WWNY) - There’s a drive-through food giveaway in St. Lawrence County this weekend.
It starts at 11:30 a.m. at Madrid-Waddington Central School. That’s on State Route 345 between Madrid and Waddington.
There will be 700 boxes of food given out, each containing one gallon of milk, along with an assortment of dairy products, produce, and meat.

SYRACUSE, N.Y. (WWNY) - June Henry McQueeney was born June 2, 1932 on the family farm in Waddington, NY to Roy E. and Jennie C. Henry, their 5th child and only daughter. She was educated in a one-room school house to the eighth grade before moving on to the Waddington High School where she was a cheerleader and played the trumpet before graduating as salutatorian of the class of 1950.
She entered the St. Lawrence State Hospital School of Nursing where she met the handsome, World War II Navy veteran, John J. (Mac) McQueeney who would become her husband and father to her five children. They made their home in the village of Waddington that would become the focus of their busy lives of community involvement.

MADRID-WADDINGTON – A drive-thru milk and food distribution event is being held Saturday, April 17, at Madrid-Waddington Central School from 11:30 a.m.-1:30 p.m. while supplies last. One box will be given per car.
No registration or paperwork is required for this distribution.
All drivers and passengers must remain in cars and will be asked to open their trunk or window to receive food products. Walk-ups will not be permitted.

MADRID The fifth grade at Madrid-Waddington Central School recently held it’s “Fun” Iditarod Race on March 19.
The fifth graders completed a unit before competing in the race where they learned about the history of the Iditarod Race and 1925 diphtheria outbreak in Nome, Alaska.
In 1925, dog sled teams carried a life saving antitoxin serum from Anchorage to Nome that saved the lives of many.
In honor of these courageous dogs and mushers the Iditarod Race is still held today.
The students were placed into teams and competed against each other in an outdoor race where students were both mushers and dogs.
