Water disruption in northeast Trinidad on Thursday Stock photo source Ángelo González via The Water and Sewerage Authority (WASA) said customers in northeastern Trinidad will experience a disruption in their water supply on January 14 between 8am and 6pm. In a statement on Tuesday, WASA it said the disruption was necessary to do desilting works at the raw water intake, which will improve efficiency. WASA warned, “Customers are further advised that it may take up to 24 hours for the pipe-borne water supply to normalise to some areas after the facility returns to operation.” It said a limited truck-borne service will be available, and priority will be given to health institutions, government agencies and homes for the aged.

WASA: Repairs on ruptured pipeline near Hyatt to be completed today

Emergency repairs to a ruptured 12-inch diameter transmission pipeline, along the westbound lane, Wrightson Road, Port of Spain are expected to be completed this morning. The Water and Sewerage Authority (WASA) advised that customers in parts of North West Trinidad served by the El Socorro Booster Station, are presently experiencing a disruption in their pipe borne water supply due to the ruptured pipeline near the Hyatt Regency Hotel. Repairs began on Wednesday, but were delayed due to the extent of the work to be done, including the proximity of T&TEC underground utility cables. Pipeline repair works are expected to be completed by 10am today – following which the El Socorro Booster Station will be restarted.
