HATTIESBURG, Miss. (WDAM) â University of Southern Mississippi senior right-handed pitchers Hunter Stanley and Walker Powell each earned Conference USA Pitcher of the Week honors Monday for their efforts this past weekend against Middle Tennessee State University.
Stanley, from Hammond, La., opened the Middle Tennessee series Friday night by limiting the Blue Raiders to three base runners over nine scoreless innings, which included two hits and one to reach via a throwing error.
The Texas Longhorns found a way to cool down TCU and make sure the Big 12 Conference race goes down to the final weekend.
The Longhorns (38-12, 15-6 Big 12) closed out the series win with a 9-3 victory Sunday in a showdown of top 10 teams at TCU. They re still a game behind the Horned Frogs (34-12, 16-5), who have been one of the nation s hottest teams.

HATTIESBURG, Miss. (WDAM) - University of Southern Mississippi right-hander Walker Powell threw a complete-game no-hitter Saturday afternoon in the first seven-inning game of a Conference USA doubleheader with Middle Tennessee State at Pete Taylor Park.
Powell, a senior from Fayetteville, Ark,, came within a walk of a perfect game in the 6-0 win over the Blue Raiders, as he faced one batter over the minimum 21 for a seven-inning game. He struck out a career-high 12 batters in posting his second consecutive, complete-game, seven-inning outing on back-to-back weekends.

RUSTON, La. (WLOX) -A solo home run by Reed Trimble lifted Southern Miss to a game one 4-3 victory before Louisiana Tech rallied for a 5-3 win in the nightcap of a Conference USA doubleheader Saturday afternoon at J.C. Love Field.
Trimble led off the eighth inning with a blast to right for his eighth homer of the year. It was the second homer for the Golden Eagles in the opening game.
A solo home run by Hunter Wells in the opening frame, though, gave the nationally-ranked Bulldogs (24-8 overall, 10-3 in Conference USA) the initial lead.
