The regular Mk8 Golf uses a 1.5 litre turbocharged four-pot instead of the previous-gen’s 1.4 litre unit. The 150 PS/250 Nm rating is similar to the Malaysian-market Mk7.5 TSI. Paired to a seven-speed dual-clutch DSG gearbox, 0-100 km/h is done in 8.5 seconds while top speed is 224 km/h. Our outgoing Golf TSI does 8.2 seconds and 216 km/h.
The 1.5L engine comes with Active Cylinder Management (ACT), where half of the four cylinders can be switched off at lower loads, benefiting fuel economy and emissions. Speaking of FC, the claimed figure is 20.8 km/l, which is 2.6 km/l better than before.
Volkswagen ID.4 GTX: A Sporty All-Wheel Drive Electric SUV
Apr 28, 2021 at 10:58am ET ++ Expanding sportiness to EVs.
The Volkswagen ID.4 lineup is getting all-wheel drive and a little sportier thanks to its latest model: the GTX. It s not a solid performance model like the Golf s GTI, instead, it s an ID.4 with AWD and some added sportiness. It s a good alternative for those who want a little more flair in their ID.4 electric crossover. The GTX name will be used on more upcoming all-electric ID models in Europe. The AWD version coming to the US later this year might not carry the GTX designation but will have similar technical specifications.

JOHANNESBURG - It is said that good things come to those who wait, and GTI fans have certainly waited for the eighth incarnation of their favourite hot hatch.
The Golf 8 GTI was originally scheduled to reach South African shores in late 2020 or early 2021, but Covid-19 related delays, as well as the more recent semiconductor chip shortage, have pushed its arrival date back to later in the year.
Although the vehicle is scheduled to officially launch locally during the third quarter of this year, VWSA has proudly announced that the first units have hit our shores.
