SOUTH BOSTON, Va. - State Police are still searching for a missing woman who was last seen 12 years ago.
State Police, Halifax County Sheriff s Office, and the South Boston Police Department say they remain hopeful that someone will come forward to bring justice and peace for the family of Hattie Gertrude Brown.
Sunday, May 16 marks 12 years since Brown was last seen at a gas station with her nephew outside of South Boston.
Police say on May 16, 2009, around 2:30 a.m., at the Sheetz gas station at the intersection of Route 501 and Route 58, surveillance footage captured Brown and her nephew in her silver 2003 Volkswagen Jetta.

Update (May 3, 2021, 12:35 p.m. ET): The suspect is a woman, not a man, police said in an update Monday morning.
A woman abducted a boy from a Virginia community and the missing child was believed to be in “extreme danger,” state police said in an Amber Alert Monday.
The Amber Alert was canceled just before 2:30 p.m. after the child was found safe, Virginia State Police said.
The suspect has not been identified. More details about the abduction were not immediately available.
State Police is asking anyone with tips in the case to call 540-696-6013. Tipsters may remain anonymous.
Stanley police said 48-year-old officer Dominic Winum was fatally shot in the town Friday afternoon.
News outlets report 29-year-old Dakota Richards shot Winum before the officer could get out of his patrol vehicle.
Virginia State Police said Richards ran away but was later found hiding in a barn. Richards reportedly made a “threatening movement” and was shot and killed by officers.
