U S Senator Marshall visits VA in Leavenworth

The Leavenworth Times During a visit to the Department of Veterans Affairs hospital in Leavenworth, U.S. Sen. Roger Marshall said Friday he wanted to highlight the importance of veterans getting vaccinated for COVID-19. Marshall, a Republican from Kansas, said the Eisenhower VA Medical Center is doing a great job of administering the COVD-19 vaccines it receives. Rudy Klopfer, director and CEO of the VA Eastern Kansas Health Care System, said the system has administered more than 17,000 doses of COVID-19 vaccines. And about 8,000 veterans have been fully vaccinated through the VA Eastern Kansas Health Care System, according to Joseph Burks, public affairs officer for the system.

City of North Kansas City officials announced Thursday afternoon that planned vaccine clinics for Friday and Saturday at Cerner’s headquarters have been postponed. The U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs Eastern Kansas Health Care System said similar shipping delays may impact vaccination appointments that are scheduled over the next few days.

VA begins to administer COVID-19 vaccine Staff report The VA Eastern Kansas Health Care System has received its first shipment of the Moderna COVID-19 vaccine and began administering the shot Wednesday afternoon to patients and staff at its Leavenworth and Topeka medical centers. VA representatives said 700 doses have arrived – 350 doses in Topeka and 350 doses in Leavenworth at the Eisenhower VA Medical Center. Officials said the health care system will be getting 700 doses on weekly basis. “We are proud of what we are doing for our veterans and staff,” said Rudy Klopfer, director of the VA Eastern Kansas Health Care System.
