Professor Damola Oke has been announced as the Acting Vice-Chancellor of the Lagos State University (LASU), Ojo.
Before his appointment, he was the Deputy Vice-Chancellor of the tertiary institution in charge of Administration. He will be expected to remain in office in an acting capacity for 45 days.
On Monday, after an emergency meeting of the Senate of LASU on the directive of the Governor of Lagos State, Mr Babajide Sanwo-Olu, who is the visitor to the university, the appointment of Mr Oke was announced.
The appointment of the acting VC became necessary following the expiration of the five-year tenure of the erstwhile Vice-Chancellor, Prof Olanrewaju Fagbohun, on Monday, January 11, 2021 (today).

Prof Oyedamola Oke has emerged Acting Vice-Chancellor of the Lagos State University (LASU) Ojo.
He is elected for the new role on Monday by the university’s Senate at its emergency meeting held at the instance of the Lagos State governor, and visitor to the university, Mr Babajide Sanwo-Olu.
The governor had given them the directive to do the election after he cancelled the initial selection process of a new vice-chancellor to succeed Prof Olanrewaju Fagbohun whose five-year single tenure ended today, Monday.

The eighth Vice-Chancellor of Lagos State University(LASU) Ojo has handed over the reins of the university to the newly elected Acting Vice-Chancellor, Prof Oyedamola Oke.
He handed over around 1.10 pm on Monday shortly after which he attended a pull-out parade as an honour organised by the security unit of the university to end his five-year- single tenure as the eighth substantive vice-chancellor and also a brief welcome back ceremony to the Faculty of Law of the university as a worthy representative and ambassador.

The man expected to be named acting vice-chancellor is a professor in LASU.
Barring any last-minute changes, Governor
Babajide Sanwo-Olu of Lagos State will announce the appointment of a professor of Sociology at the Lagos State University (LASU), Ojo, Wahab Elias, as the institution’s acting vice-chancellor.
Mr Elias, who is the incumbent deputy vice-chancellor in charge of
academics, would take over from the outgoing 8th substantive vice-chancellor, Olanrewaju Fagbohun, whose tenure ends on Monday, January 11.
The announcement is expected to be made today (Friday) by the chief press secretary to the governor, Gboyega Akosile.
