Newark – The Delaware State Police have arrested a Pennsylvania man for the theft of a motor vehicle and related charges after a Friday morning pursuit, according to Public Information Officer, Corporal/1 Jason Hatchell. Hatchell said the incident occurred on January 15, 2021, at approximately 4:58 a.m., when troopers were dispatched to Verizon located at 945 South Chapel Street in Newark, in reference to a trespassing complaint. A Verizon employee reported a suspicious subject was inside the fenced-in parking lot at the business. Upon arrival, troopers observed a Verizon utility truck exit the business and drive erratically onto southbound South Chapel Street. Troopers initiated a motor vehicle stop, but the suspect fled at a high rate of speed. The suspect continued traveling until reaching a dead end on Bellevue Road.
