County apologizes for wrong hospital numbers
Yamhill County Health and Human Services Director Lindsey Manfrin apologized this week for an error that, for several days, indicated extremely high hospitalization rates for county COVID-19 patients.
Information that around 20% of COVID hospitalizations statewide were Yamhill County residents was shared on Facebook by Commissioner Casey Kulla last week and reported in Tuesday’s News-Register.
Manfrin followed up Wednesday evening, saying there was currently no one hospitalized with COVID-19 who resides in Yamhill County. Thursday, however, the county listed three people as hospitalized.
“Yamhill County Public Health discovered that when pulling this data there were a number of people who were discharged from the hospital and this information was not accounted for due to the data system being used. The only way for us to accurately pull this data is manually,” Manfrin wrote in an e-mail to the News-Register.

YAMHILL, Ore. Joe Biden’s father struggled financially, at one point commuting long distances to clean boilers and later working for a time as a used-car salesman. The owner of the used-car dealership amused himself at a Christmas party by tossing out silver dollars to watch his employees scramble for them on the floor. Biden Sr. was repulsed: He and his wife walked out of the party, and away from his job.
President Biden tells that story to highlight his appreciation of the importance of the dignity of work. It’s a tale my old pal Mike Stepp would have relished, because Mike spent his life scrambling on America’s floor for coins and not liking it one bit. Yet Mike, too, sustained his dignity and humor, which is an impressive feat when you’re homeless, wrestling with addictions and sleeping in a city park.

The good professor
He’s a real lefty. And, of course, he bashed Trump.
The professor likes to tout his accomplishments.
There’s nothing wrong with accomplishments, and I admire his. But I think if would be more beneficial for him to encourage his students to pursue their own accomplishments rather than push his leftist agenda. Aren’t schools supposed to teach critical thinking?
My critical thinking is to get opinions from all sides and then make up my own mind. That’s why I flip around and watch Fox News, CNN, ABC, NBC and so forth.

SALEM, Ore. (AP) - Yamhill County will stop pursuing a rail-to-trail project that’s encountered repeated land use issues and objections from farmers along the route southwest of Portland.
The county’s board of commissioners voted 2-1 to withdraw its land use application to build the three-mile recreational trail between the towns of Carlton and Yamhill on Thursday, the Capital Press reported. The project southwest of Portland is along a longer 12-mile portion of rail property bought by the county for $1.4 million.
