Teen Cited in Rollover Crash A 16-year-old Bend resident was cited after the pickup he was driving lost control and crashed on a forest service road Friday night. Deschutes County Sheriff’s Office were dispatched shortly before 7:30 p.m. to a single vehicle crash on USFS Road 1815 near China Hat Rd. Deputies found a Black 2004 Toyota pickup truck on its side after apparently rolling over several times. The initial investigation determined the vehicle was northbound on USFS Road 1815 at a high rate of speed for the conditions.  The driver lost control of the vehicle as it fishtailed and then rolled over several times. The vehicle was occupied by five juvenile males ranging in age from 15 to 16.  Three juveniles were in the cab of the pickup, and two juveniles were riding in the bed of the pickup.  The two juveniles in the bed of the pickup were thrown from the vehicle as it rolled over. Bend Fire Department personnel responded and treated several juveniles for injuries.

Divers investigate car found in river in South Bend

SOUTH BEND — Divers from the South Bend Fire Department were investigating a vehicle that was found submerged in the St. Joseph River Tuesday afternoon by fishermen. The vehicle was located off Riverside Drive near the boat launch, close to the area of the river near Saint Mary s College. Tim Scott, former South Bend Common Council member, said he and a friend were fishing about 4:30 p.m. when they saw the vehicle in the water. Check back for updates to this story.

Deck Fire Caused By Embers In Dry Bark Bend Fire Department responded to an early morning deck fire at 583 NW Greyhawk Ave Monday. The fire was reported by the home owners and quickly extinguished, preventing it from spreading to the interior of the home. Damages are estimated at $10,000. The owners were able to remain in their home after fire crews cleared. The fire was caused by embers from a smoker landing in dry bark mulch below the deck. The bark ignited and spread to the wooden deck support and then up the side of  the house. “Bend Fire Department reminds everyone that keeping bark away from combustible construction can help prevent these types of fires. Bark mulch will always ignite, but if you can keep the bark away from your home you can help prevent your home from catching fire as a result of the bark,” a news release stated. “Whether it be from BBQ embers, smoking materials or embers from an advancing wildfire; keeping a separation between combustible ground cove
