Dewa wins PFI award for 5th phase of MBR solar park
DUBAI, 14 days ago Dubai Electricity and Water Authority (Dewa) has won the ‘2020 Middle East and Africa Renewables Deal of the Year’ from Project Finance International (PFI) magazine for the photovoltaic 5th phase of the Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum Solar Park. Saeed Mohammed Al Tayer, MD & CEO of Dewa, received the award. Waleed Salman, Executive Vice President of Business Development and Excellence, and the project team also attended. “The 900MW 5th phase of the Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum Solar Park based on the Independent Power Producer (IPP) model is a quality addition to our successful clean and renewable energy projects using the best global technologies. MUSCAT, January 19, 2021 Shams Ad-Dhahira Generating Company (SAGC), a company backed by a consortium of Saudi-based Acwa Power, a major developer, owner, and operator of power generation and water desalination plants, is gearing up for the commissioning of Oman’s biggest solar photovoltaic (PV) project - the 500 MW Ibri 2 - ahead of its full commercial operation in mid-2021. The mega project, coming up on a 1,300-hectare site in the country s northwest region of Ibri, is being developed in consortium with top Kuwaiti groups Gulf Investment Corporation and Alternative Energy Projects Company.
