Moscone Center loses business as major convention goes virtual
Medical group cancels scheduled fall SF Moscone Center convention
The American College of Rheumatology has canceled its scheduled in-person convention for fall of 2021 at San Francisco s Moscone Center. The convention would have been the first to be held at the venue since the pandemic.
SAN FRANCISCO - Downtown businesses eager to reopen and recoup some of the pandemic lockdown losses are encouraged by San Francisco s move to the yellow tier and low COVID19 case rates, with signs of better times ahead.
This week, however, brought one big setback.
The Moscone Convention Center got word this week from the American College of Rheumatology that the in-person November 2021 convention would be canceled and instead go entirely virtual.

Land Trust of Napa County announced the completion of two conservation easements protecting almost 200 acres near Mount Veeder, along the Napa-Sonoma county line.
âThe property is in a key location,â said Doug Parker, CEO of the Land Trust. âThe easements are very near each other and are adjacent to other protected land. One abuts the Land Trustâs Archer Taylor Preserve, which we just expanded to almost 400 acres.

This one is west of the City of Napa along the Sonoma-Napa county line. The other abuts 160 acres of federal Bureau of Land Management land just south of the preserve. Together, these easements are helping to protect scenic views and an important wildlife corridor along the ridge of the Mayacamas Mountains between Napa and Sonoma, Parker said.

These areas include Eagle Plaza, Sally Port, the Recreation Yard and the historic gardens. Access to the Cell House will require signing up for the Cell House audio tour.
There s also a new exhibit in the New Industries Building commemorating the 50th anniversary of the Alcatraz Occupation by Indians of All Tribes.
