The approach as far as the season goes for the Weymouth boys lacrosse team is a simple one.
The Wildcats are going to take things as they come during this Covid delayed start to the Spring season.
“One game at a time is,” Weymouth coach Adam Tragellis said about the approach. “We had Needham first and they were the better team. We then had Brookline and we were the better team. We will look ahead to the next game.”
The Wildcats can look ahead to a home game with Braintree on Thursday, followed by a road game at Natick on Tuesday night and at Walpole on May 27.

The Weymouth High girls lacrosse team under their new coach Kathleen Riley, will take things one step at a time because the Wildcats will be one of the youngest teams in the Bay State Conference. Weymouth has no seniors on the team and it’s learning to play together as a unit that includes six juniors while the rest of the team is sophomores and freshmen.
This challenge was evident during the Wildcats 13-12 win at home against Brookline. Weymouth trailed for most of the game, but the players rallied with five fourth-period goals including the game-winner with 30 seconds left by Cam Flaherty.

Weymouth softball coach Vanessa Haen is a math teacher at the school. She is hoping the numbers will add up for her team.
Haen, who took over for Eric Fagerlund who resigned after the 2019 season, was supposed to start her first season as the Wildcats new coach in 2020. However, the pandemic put her first season on hold until this season.
Haen feels good about her team and how they approached the preseason to get ready for the 2021 season.
“I think that the girls really get along together,” Haen said. “They have played together forever, they are always on the same teams.

Ronan Folan remembers the last time he competed in a high school track meet before the recent Fall II season.
Folan, considered one of the top shot putters in the Bay State Conference, just helped the Wildcats complete the indoor track season with a 4-1 record. But before this season, Weymouth last competed in the 2019-20 indoor campaign, and did not have a meet after that because of the pandemic.
The senior, who will attend Brown in the fall and participate on the the men’s track team, still has some goals left between the indoor season and the outdoor season that starts this week.
