On Thursday, we’re addressing how climate change has impacted Metro Detroit’s climate.
To understand climate change’s impact on Detroit’s specific climate, we’re looking at temperature extremes or the hottest and coldest temperatures experienced over the last few decades.
If Detroit’s climate had remained stable over the past 150 years, then the ratio of record warmth to record cold would be nearly 1-to-1. But that’s not the case.

On Wednesday, we’re addressing the question: Is global warming impacting extreme weather events on Earth?
The answer is
yes.
Climate Central did an interesting study to see if there have been any changes to the most extreme precipitation events meaning, the top one percent of these events. In the video above, you can see a graph showing that each part of the U.S. is seeing an increase in the number of these events. The midwest and northeast, including Michigan, have seen the largest increases.

Abstract
In this article, we synthesize Goffman s microsociology with recent developments in fields such as aesthetics, geography, and urban studies labeled “atmosphere theory.” Our central rationale is if microsociology is to deepen its account of embodiment and the noncognitive it needs a theory of spatialized moods. In the second half, we develop our synthesis with respect to musical atmospheres and conclude by drawing on our own research regarding how social actors use music to shape “involvements” and “disinvolvements” in the spatial ambiances of public transportation, the street, the workplace, and the home.
