Concern over growing corona deaths among doctors National May 12, 2021 LAHORE: Pakistan Medical Association (PMA) has expressed its concern over the large number of deaths of doctors and paramedics due to COVID-19. So far all over Pakistan 202 doctors and 30 paramedics have died. According to a press release issued here Tuesday, PMA (Centre) Secretary General Dr SM Qaisar Sajjad informed that, out of these 202 doctors 74 were from Punjab, 65 from Sindh, 53 from KPK, six from Balochistan, three were from Azad Jammu & Kashmir and one from Gilgit Baltistan. PMA requested government to protect all the doctors and paramedics by providing uninterrupted supply of PPEs. PMA salutes the doctors who are serving the nation in this difficult time. “They are on the front line in the war “Pakistan vs Coronavirus”. PMA demanded the government immediately implement the announced Shuhda Package for aggrieved families.

Inter-civil service rivalries growing within bureaucracy

Top Story May 5, 2021 ISLAMABAD: Rivalries among different services within the civil bureaucracy have pushed the civil service to a new low. The most recent example of this divide was the statement issued by the All Pakistan Provincial Management Services Officers Association against Chief Secretary Punjab for condemning the humiliating treatment meted out to the Assistant Commissioner Sialkot by the Punjab CM’s media adviser Firdous Ashiq Awan. The association in its statement said on Monday that the officers belonging to the provincial services stand by the provincial government and will not allow any federal service or its top representative the chief secretary in this case to blackmail the province because of one incident. Significantly, the provincial association did not condemn the incident that had attracted a great deal of media attention.
