Dudley HMO plan divides residents

A PROPOSED five-bedroomed home to house multiple residents near Dudley town centre has divided opinion in the community with people voicing strong objections and support for the plan. Members of Dudley Council’s Development Control Committee are being recommended to grant approval to an extension to a semi-detached home on The Parade to help convert it into a five-bedroom HMO. The application, put forward by a developer named as M Atwal, attracted opposition from West Midlands Police and neighbours due to fears of increased crime, parking issues, noise and loss of privacy. But other neighbours leapt to the defence of the proposal saying it was unfair to assume people moving in would be criminals as well as welcoming the investment.

Proposed plans to build on protected green space in Amblecote cause outrage

The land next to 15 Culverhouse Drive is covered by a deed of dedication, securing the woodland for 99 years. Pic: Google Maps PLANS for three houses on a protected green space in Amblecote have caused outrage amongst residents. The proposed plans will see a popular dog walking spot on Culverhouse Drive that is an essential asset to the local community lost to two four bed and one five bed houses. The land has already been targeted twice by the developer, Masterfreight, but both applications were withdrawn due to the loss of green space. A section of the land is regarded as a Potential Site of Importance and the area of woodland on the site is part of the Black Country Urban Forest Programme. Therefore, the woodland should be retained for 99 years.

Letters to the Editor: An open letter to Cllr Ken Rhatigan

Open letter to Cllr Ken Rhatigan Thank you for your email concerning the Planning Application for a warehouse on land at Oakdown Farm Dummer.  In the email you state that ‘employment opportunities need to be right if the application is moved forward’. You also talk about ‘detailed information’.  Have you had assurances regarding the employment numbers from the occupier? If not, who has provided these? What meetings have you had with the occupier during 2020? Were any or all of these meetings prior to the article published in the Gazette on April 5, when you recommended that the councillors on the Development Control Committee approve the warehouse application?
