Ed Broadbent Waterfront Park plans moving forward

Plans are moving forward for the Ed Broadbent Waterfront Park.
Oshawa City Council voted unanimously to move the project forward at its April 26 meeting.
Regional Councillor Brian Nicholson says the overall concept is an extremely important addition to the city’s waterfront.
“It gives an obvious tribute to Ed Broadbent and his contributions to our city,” he says, adding the sooner the project can be fully completed the better it’ll be for the entire community.

The public has through March 1 to provide comment on the recommendations.
Despite significant uncertainty surrounding an upcoming cruise season, discussions with industry representatives indicate a reduced cruise season that starts late and ramps up later in the summer.
The Manager’s draft proposal makes recommendations on expenditure of funds that come from the $5 City and Borough of Juneau Marine Passenger Fee, $3 CBJ Port Development Fee, and the $5 State of Alaska Commercial Passenger Vessel Fee.
In December, CBJ solicited project proposals from city departments and the public, including businesses and the visitor industry, to be funded with Marine Passenger Fee proceeds.

BENGALURU: All eyes are on Primary and Secondary Education Minister Suresh Kumar’s decision on the reduction in school fees, with this academic year almost coming to a close. A decision is likely to be out in the next two days, according to a top source in the education department.
Talks are on to reduce fees by up to 30%, applicable across boards – SSLC, CBSE and ICSE – besides discussions with parents’ associations and private school managements, with the latter two pulling in different directions on fee reduction.
