SHELBY CO., Tenn. (WMC) - The Tennessee Department of Health identified 5,257 new COVID-19 cases and 51 deaths on Christmas Eve. The state now has had 546,497 coronavirus cases and 6,431 deaths reported.
The health department also reports 462,694 recoveries and 2,944 hospitalizations.
As of Tuesday, Dec. 22, a total of 24,236 vaccinations were reported. On that same day, 6,459 new vaccinations within the last 24 hours were reported.

SHELBY CO., Tenn. (WMC) - The Tennessee Department of Health says there are 7,221 new cases of COVID-19 and 111 additional virus deaths in Tennessee as of Wednesday.
The daily positivity rate coming in at about 17.53%.
TDH says there has been a total of 541,240 COVID-19 cases and over 6,300 deaths in the Volunteer State since the pandemic began.
With more than 455,000 inactive/recovered cases, data suggests there are about 79,000 active cases statewide.
TDH also says there are 2,934 Tennesseans currently hospitalized due to complications with the virus.

SHELBY CO., Tenn. (WMC) - Tennessee’s COVID-19 case count has increased by 4,441 cases in the past 24 hours and an additional 133 deaths have been reported.
Data from the Tennessee Department of Health shows the daily positivity rate came in at 19.63% Tuesday.
The new cases bring the state’s total case count to more than 534,000 and the death toll to 6,269.
TDH says of that total, there are 447,996 cases that are inactive/recovered across the state. Active cases are topping 79,000.

MEMPHIS, Tenn. (WMC) - The number of available hospital beds is plummeting across the Mid-South after, what health officials call, a post-Thanksgiving surge in COVID-19 cases.
Health officials in Mississippi, Arkansas and Tennessee are asking residents to avoid family gatherings outside of immediate households out of fear that another surge will overwhelm their healthcare systems.
For a hospital bed to be available, it needs to be open and there needs to be staff to help the person in it.

SHELBY CO., Tenn. (WMC) - The Tennessee Department of Health reported 9,891 new COVID-19 cases in the Volunteer State. Data shows there are over 85,000 active cases in Tennessee.
There were also an additional 65 virus-related deaths within the last 24 hours.
TDH says the state’s total case count is at 529,578 with a death toll of 6,136.
There are currently 2,779 Tennesseans hospitalized die to complications with the virus and over 438,000 cases are considered inactive/recovered.
