July 11, 2021 SALTON SEA French-Italian automaker Stellantis is the second major company to enter into an agreement to acquire lithium for its electric vehicle fleet from Controlled Thermal Resources’ Hell’s Kitchen project still under development, according to a report from Reuters on Friday, July 9. Billed as the fourth-largest automobile manufacturer in the world, Stellantis announced deals with Controlled Thermal Resources and a second lithium project out of Germany during an announcement on its “comprehensive electrification strategy” at a media event in Amsterdam, Netherlands, the company’s headquarters, on Thursday, July 8. It was part of a plan to invest more than 30 billion euros ($35.54 billion) through 2025 on electrifying its vehicle lineup, according to Reuters.
