Officials lay out safety game plan for Valero Alamo Bowl COVID-19 restrictions include reduced capacity, contactless services Tags:  SAN ANTONIO – The game is on, but the settings will be different this year for the Valero Alamo Bowl. Officials on Monday unveiled their safety plan for the 11,000 people who will be attending the game. Officials said the plan includes basic safety principles. ”Face coverings must be worn properly over the nose and the mouth, except when eating and or drinking at their seat or at their suite,” said Patricia Cantor, director of Convention and Sports Facilities. Officials are asking patrons to wash their hands frequently and six-feet social distancing requirements will be enforced inside as every other row of seats is closed. No tailgating will be allowed.

San Antonio Mayor Says COVID-19 Precautions In Place For Alamo Bowl

The Alamodome hosts the annual Valero Alamo Bowl One of the largest events held since the start of the pandemic will be Tuesday night’s Alamo Bowl. Some have criticized the game as a potential super-spreader event, but San Antonio Mayor Ron Nirenberg said precautions are in place to protect fans during the match between the No. 20 Texas Longhorns and unranked Colorado Buffaloes. The mayor said the Alamodome has already been used for several large events this year, including home football games by the UTSA Roadrunners. Only 11,000 of the dome’s 65,000 seats were made available to the public. He said the building is ready.
