On Saturday afternoon and evening, members and friends of ABATE of Illinois participated in the 10 Mile Creek BroomStick Tournament at The Depot, where players had to use broom handles provided by the organizers instead of the traditional pool cue.

Most people shoot pool with a regular cue stick. With these, every time you hit that ball, the end of that broom handle changes. Two shots are never the same. Eventually you get them pounded down enough that they re solid.

TAYLORVILLE â Christian County Public Health will hold a drive-thru COVID-19 vaccination clinic from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Tuesday, Jan. 26, at the Christian County Fairgrounds.
Enter from South Spresser Street to West Vandeever Street and then turn onto Jaynes Street to enter the fairgrounds.
The clinic is for people aged 65 and older only. Using the drive-thru method will allow for faster and more efficient distribution than scheduling appointments.

At Party Warehouse in Brettwood Village, owner Diane Little said she s seen fewer of one group of her usual lottery customers, office workers who pitched in together to buy tickets, planning to share the pot if they won. With so many people working from home, those customers aren t coming in now. Some people are just kind of bored and they take home crossword puzzles and things that take a while to play, so we re seeing a little more activity that way, she said. I think they just do it for something to do. We re seeing people buy (the Mega Millions and Powerball) more often because the pot is so big. Â
