STORY: Christmas Carols
I don’t know about you, but for me, Christmas celebrations would not be complete without music. It uplifts me and I feel like I’m floating in air transported to a different time and place without problems and trials. Since I’m self-isolating due to being high-risk for COVID-19, this year Christmas looks different. I’m not shopping in stores, so I don’t get to hear the sounds and see the sights of the holiday there.
Instead, I get my fill of Christmas music other ways. I program my smart TV to play the top Christian Christmas tunes on YouTube. I watch Christmas variety shows. I catch myself humming the tunes when I’m busy doing other things.

Scripture: Luke 2: 10, 11
This time of the year, regardless of religious or non-religious persuasions, we, as a people, can find ourselves driven toward festive, joyous occasions of celebration and religious observances.
Additionally, we find ourselves driven by consumerism, commercialism, nostalgia, and big business “to give and to receive,” as well as enjoy heartwarming observances with food, drink, music, good company, Christmas trees, lights, and mistletoe. We go to great lengths to make the atmosphere around us festive, no matter what financial situation we find ourselves.

However, this year is different – this year, consumerism, nostalgia, or the desire to give and receive is not driving us. This year, a virus drives us. Covid is affecting our joy @ Christmastime!
