Waitr and Bite Squad add Nextbite delivery-only virtual brands

New ghost kitchen offerings range from CraveBurger to Wing Dynasty Waitr Holdings Inc. has added the first group of Nextbite delivery-only virtual brands to its Waitr and Bite Squad on-demand platforms, the company said Tuesday. Amid an explosion of new virtual brands on smartphone apps, Lafayette, La.-based Waitr said the 10 Nextbite brands available on its platforms now include CraveBurger, The Big Melt, Firebelly Wings, Grilled Cheese Society, Hotbox by Wiz, Miss Mazy’s, Monster Mac, Tossitup, Wild Wild Wings and The Wing Dynasty. “This new partnership with Nextbite boosts Waitr’s promise to provide a robust restaurant selection to our customers,” said Carl Grimstad, Waitr’s CEO and chairman, in a statement. “The addition of these new and diverse food offerings through the virtual kitchen strengthens our position in many markets.”

(AP) For those who believe, ghosts come in a wide variety of forms: floating orbs of light, haunting voices or, as in the opinion of famed fictional ghostbuster Raymond Stantz, “a full-torso, free-floating apparition.” As it turns out, so do “ghost kitchens”: food-world phantoms that put emphasis on flavor rather than fright. A ghost kitchen, or virtual restaurant, uses an existing business to create a new menu available almost exclusively through delivery, and frequently through third-party delivery services such as DoorDash, GrubHub, Postmates, Seamless and Uber Eats.
