Rev Martin Luther King Jr spoke about civil rights at Worcester temple

During the first hour of a nearly two-hour appearance, King spoke about civil rights, race relations, discrimination, segregation and integration, and made “a reasoned plea for accelerated progress in the Negro cause,” according to a report of the event. He spent the second hour fielding questions from the audience on a wide variety of civil rights-related issues. An audio recording of King’s appearance was made to be broadcast on WTAG radio the next evening as part of its public affairs programming. The two large reel-to-reel tapes were found a few years ago when the temple was being cleaned out after the building was sold to Worcester State University.
