King County Council passes hazard pay ordinance for grocery store workers in unincorporated areas

Some grocery store workers in unincorporated areas of King County will soon receive an extra $4 per hour after King County Council became the latest local government to pass hazard pay legislation.
The council approved the legislation Tuesday in an 8-1 vote. The move came after Seattle and Burien both passed hazard pay legislation earlier this year to help provide grocery store workers extra compensation during the coronavirus pandemic.

After months of buzz surrounding the grocery chainâs rumored arrival in Northern Kentucky, the company filed legal notice of two license applications in the Kenton County Recorder last week.

CHARLESTON, S.C. (WCSC) - While many workplaces arenât requiring their employees to get the COVID-19 vaccine, some Lowcountry businesses and national retailers are offering incentives to get vaccinated.
Hospitality workers meet requirements for vaccination Phase 1B in South Carolina, which kicked off Monday.
Queen Street Hospitality groups is offering $100 for their employees at its three Charleston area restaurants. They include 82 Queen, Florenceâs Lowcountry Kitchen, and Jalisco Taqueria & Tequila.

The Kenton Community Recorder to apply for the permit to sell at 2780 Dixie Highway.
The listed address is that of the former Joseph-Beth Booksellers in Crestview Hills Town Center.
Rumors started in December 2020, about Trader Joe s opening in the former Joseph-Beth store in Crestview Hills. The 20,000-square-foot book store at 2785 Dixie Highway, closed in May 2020, partially due to COVID-19.
The legal advertisement advises that Trader Joe s will apply for the retail package liquor license no later than April 30.
Trader Joe s Kenwood, nearly 18 miles away from the planned Crestview Hills store, is the closest existing Trader Joes in the Cincinnati area. The only other Trader Joe s in Kentucky are in Lexington and Louisville, according to the store s website.
