DTI woos French businesses Louella Desiderio MANILA, Philippines The Philippines is encouraging French firms to consider trade and investment opportunities in various sectors including aerospace, electronics, shipbuilding and healthcare in the country. In a statement, the Department of Trade and Industry said Trade Secretary Ramon Lopez recently had a virtual courtesy call with newly appointed French Ambassador to the Philippines Michèle Boccoz and discussed potential trade and investment opportunities for French companies in the Philippines. During the meeting, the parties discussed exploring possible trade and investment deals in aerospace, electronics, shipbuilding, clean energy, agribusiness, and healthcare. The DTI said cooperation between the two countries on these areas would be discussed further during the 9th Philippines-France Joint Economic Commission latter this quarter.

Published April 7, 2021, 4:00 PM The Philippine government will no longer extend the price ceiling on pork and chicken in Metro Manila, but will impose a price cap or suggested retail price (SRP) on imported pork only starting Friday, April 9. Agriculture Secretary William Dar announced during Wednesday, April 7 virtual briefing, that the price cap or suggested retail price for imported pork kasim is P270 per kg, while the imported pork liempo is P350 per kg. This measure was approved as the price ceiling on pork and chicken will last only until tomorrow, April 8.

India keen on jeepney manufacturing in PH

Lopez has offered India to make the Philippines its jump off point to the mega trade area Regional Comprehensive Economic Partnership (RCEP) by putting up its manufacturing operations in the country, including pharmaceuticals, as well as support India’s plan for jeepney production and electronics manufacturing here.
