Wine tariffs are diverting European wine intended for the US to China, according to trade industry groups. The US Wine Trade Alliance and the National Association of Wine Retailers said last year that the wine category in the US is witnessing a direct transfer of the American-European wine trade to China because of ill-advised tariffs on wine.

GREAT FALLS â Non-profit agencies can now register to be part of the 2021 Give Great Falls event.
The event is a week-long effort, May 3-7, to promote and raise money for non-profits.
Itâs organized by the Great Falls Area Community Foundation, the United Way of Cascade County, and the Great Falls Chamber of Commerce Non-profit Alliance.
The registration fee is $50. The money is used to cover the cost of maintaining the website created for the event at
GiveGreatFalls.org. Non-profits that register will be listed on the website.
PROVIDENCE If members of the Rhode Island Coastal Resources Management Council thought they d put the contentious hearings three years ago on a liquefied natural gas plant in Providence behind them, they were wrong.
Providence resident Andrew Poyant, who testified at the LNG hearings, brought the issues to the fore, accusing Jennifer Cervenka, an environmental lawyer who has chaired the council since 2017, not only of unprofessional conduct but of racist behavior by treating speakers of color unfairly at the hearings.
Cervenka denied the charge which was tied to an incident with one person at one of the three hearings.
“It was at times a chaotic meeting,” Cervenka said. “And there was a particular speaker who started yelling at the council members and we had to take a break and cool off.”
