WAYNESBORO Julie Conner never set out to be an author.
Her passion is teaching, something she s been doing for nearly 20 years. The special education teacher at The Virginia School for the Deaf and the Blind was named the Outstanding Teacher for the Visually Impaired with Multiple Disabilities in 2019.
Outside of class the Waynesboro woman loved working on projects with her own children, and one thing the family has done is make books together. They d take a trip to the beach and, when they returned home, put words to the photographs they d taken and create a book just for them. My son, he is a nature, outdoorsy, all things bugs and creepy crawly things kind of guy, Conner said.

NEWPORT NEWS Our gracious Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, called home our beloved, the Rev. Dr. Wilbur Rea Jones, 86, to eternal rest Monday, Feb. 22, 2021. Pastor Jones was a great man of God, servant, wonderful husband, father, grandfather, brother, uncle and friend to many he met along the way.
His life was an example of Christ’s love and forgiveness in ways too numerous to describe. His charity toward his family, flock and the community was boundless. God truly blessed Pastor Jones with many gifts and talents, which he used daily in the preaching of God’s Word, the administration of the church and life in general.
