NEW ORLEANS – We’re less than six weeks away from the
2020 NCAA Division I Cross Country Championships in Stillwater, Oklahoma, which were postponed until March 15 from their original date of November 21 due to the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic.
Even though there won’t be Regional Championships to decide which teams automatically advance to the meet, we figured it was high time to release the first edition of the
NCAA Division I Men’s Cross Country Regional Rankings for the 2020 season to see how things are shaping up.
NOTE: Only those teams who competed and/or have the intention to compete prior to the completion of the season are eligible for ranking.

Absence makes the heart grow fonder.
It also makes collegiate track & field athletes go bigger in early season meets after not competing for more than 10 months due to the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic.
This indoor collegiate season will see many more bigger marks earlier than usual. A sense of urgency and people getting to their main event earlier, because never know when you could be quarantined or shut down and miss a few meets.
Happy to return to competing. Todd Lane (@LSUtoddlane) January 17, 2021
This past weekend saw a slew of all-time performances added to the collegiate record book.
KC Lightfoot, Baylor – Lightfoot broke a less-than-year-old collegiate indoor record in the pole vault at the Texas Tech Corky Classic in Lubbock, Texas. He topped 5.94m (19-5¾) on his first attempt at the height and reduced Chris Nilsen’s former all-time best of 5.93m (19-5½) to second fiddle. Lightfoot missed three attempts at 6.00m (19-8¼), but has cleared that in practice.
