The Virginia Department of Motor Vehicles will open more windows in its customer service centers beginning June 1 after Gov. Ralph Northam announced that current COVID-19 restrictions will ease.
The move will create 184,000 additional appointment opportunities across the state, and customers can begin scheduling new appointments next week.
Additional windows will open in stages on June 1, June 15 and in July as the DMV continues to hire and train new employees to expand appointment availability, adding to the more than 530,000 appointments Virginians already have scheduled over the next three months.

RICHMOND, Va. (WDBJ/DMV Release) - The Virginia Department of Motor Vehicles will open more windows in its customer service centers beginning June 1, creating 184,000 additional appointment opportunities across the Commonwealth, according to the DMV.
The announcement came after Governor Northam announced the end of the state’s mask mandate and the elimination of other COVID restrictions at the end of May.
Customers can begin to schedule these new appointments beginning the week of May 17. Additional windows will open in stages June 1, June 15 and in July, as DMV continues to hire and train new employees to expand appointment availability, adding to the more than 530,000 appointments Virginians already have scheduled over the next three months, according to the DMV.

MANASSAS, VA A sobriety checkpoint will be held in Manassas on Thursday evening, according to the Prince William County Police Department. The checkpoint will be conducted from 7 p.m. to 12 a.m.
Authorities did not specify the exact area of Thursday s checkpoints. The Prince William County Police department regularly conducts checkpoints throughout the county in an effort to discourage drunken driving among residents.
The Virginia Department of Motor Vehicles stated that alcohol-related traffic fatalities have decreased by 37 per cent in the last 30 years. However, statistics show that one in six people will be involved in alcohol-related crash in their lifetime.

RICHMOND, Va. The Virginia Department of Motor Vehicles (DMV) plans to open more windows in its customer service centers on June 1. That, according to DMV, will create 184,000 additional appointments and begin to chip away at some of the backlog created during the pandemic.
Earlier this month, the CBS 6 Problem Solvers highlighted issues some Virginians were experiencing trying to take care of DMV-related business.
Additional DMV windows will open June 15 and even more in July as COVID-19 related restrictions are eased statewide.
