DANVILLE, Va. â A new seafood restaurant is preparing to open its doors in north Danville.
After months of preparation, the first Captain Cook restaurant is days away from serving seafood right on Highway 29. Hopefully, we ll open this week, manager Kim Gammon said. We don t know exactly when yet. We re waiting [for] the last inspection.
The restaurant is located on Piney Forest Road, just past the Nor-Dan plaza. Formerly, the building hosted Pacific Bay Steak & Seafood, which is permanently closed. We will have crab legs and a standard fish menu, Gammon said. We will also offer curbside pickup.
Captain Cook will help replace the void left by the Mayflower restaurant that closed its doors Sept. 21, 2020, after 32 years of service. The restaurant will have new competition, however, as Greensboro-based Red Crab opened its third Virginia restaurant at 3244 Riverside Drive in Danville just two weeks ago.
