Consultation on Hutt City Council’s proposed 10 year plan has opened today. This means the community can now give feedback on the plan for our city’s future.
Lower Hutt Mayor Campbell Barry says that the proposed plan, titled E whakatika ana i ngā mea matua – Getting the basics right, proposes to front up to the big challenges facing our city by doubling capital investment in our core infrastructure.
“With our city’s high levels of population growth, and the pressure that is putting on our ageing infrastructure, we must front up and invest to build the strong foundations needed for our city’s future,” says Campbell Barry.

Today the Canterbury Regional Council (Environment
Canterbury) has released the draft Long-Term Plan 2021-31
for community feedback.
The Council’s
draft Long-Term Plan 2021-31 was made public last week
as part of the papers for the 25 February Council meeting.
It contains two options for consultation, both proposing a
notable increase in activity and funding required to deliver
it.
At the 25 February Council meeting, Chair Jenny
Hughey said the proposals to increase activity and
accelerate environmental outcomes across the region respond
to what the Council is hearing strongly from the community
and from central government to address such issues as

Whangārei residents are facing a 6.5 per cent rates rise as Whangārei District Council puts together its roughly $3 billion budget spend for the next decade.
