Arriva issue statement as rival firm forced to run Durham and Darlington services due to driver sickness A NORTH EAST bus firm has been forced to rely on a rival operator to run some of its services because of drivers off sick, the D&S Times understands. A number of Arriva services in County Durham and Darlington are now being temporarily operated by Go North East due to what the firm has said are operational issues. The services, which remain controlled by Arriva North East but are run using Go North East buses and drivers, officially started on Monday this week.

Arriva North East said Warren Pattison and Adam Kaczkowski from its Jesmond depot, near Newcastle, had died following positive tests in the past fortnight. The firm confirmed the deaths as they paid tribute to Mr Pattison and Mr Kaczkowski saying they will be deeply missed by all who knew and worked with them. Gavin Peace, Area Managing Director at Arriva North East said: Tragically, two drivers Warren Pattison & Adam Kaczkowski from our Jesmond Depot have sadly passed away following positive tests for Covid-19 in the last 14 days.
