Proposals for a riverside ‘glamping’ site offering hot tubs and fishing activities for visitors have been given the green light in County Durham.
Shotley Grove Road, Shotley Bridge, Consett Picture: GOOGLE PROPOSALS for a riverside ‘glamping’ site offering hot tubs and fishing activities for visitors in County Durham have been approved. Last year, a planning application was lodged with Durham County Council to erect six glamping pods in the Shotley Grove area, near Consett. The structures were planned for a parcel of land to the south of Shotley Grove Road, next to the River Derwent. According to a design and access statement from the applicant, the glamping pods would be of “modest, modern design with materials in keeping with the site’s setting”.
The triple garage that could become a holiday let Picture: Google Maps PLANS have been submitted this week for a change of use from a triple garage into a two- bedroomed holiday let with an ancillary, private open space, and car parking. The property, which is located on Howden Bank in Lanchester, Durham, is a family home and the plan is to use the existing garage and convert it into a holiday let, along with the car park to the front of the property. The existing access to the building would also be altered and relocated further up Howden Bank, and a new single-storey garage would be attached to the existing family home.
