Monday was Tax Day in the United States this year and the Patriotic Millionaires rich Americans who advocate for greater redistribution of wealth and power to working people in the U.S. are using the occasion to launch an offensive against the selfish billionaires, Wall Street tycoons, and CEOs who are trying to undermine progressive tax reforms that would require the country s wealthiest individuals and corporations to pay a fairer share. The nation s super-rich, said the group in a statement, are fighting tooth and nail to protect their own special tax breaks and misleading the American people about proposals to raise taxes on a tiny minority of high-net worth households and corporate giants and to bolster enforcement to ensure the collection of trillions of dollars in revenue currently lost to tax evasion.

Poorest Families Could Miss Out On New Monthly Checks For Parents

Updated 2 days ago Reaching the poorest American families will require a massive outreach operation. The poorest American families are at danger of missing out on monthly checks under a new program from the Biden administration ― unless the government succeeds in finding a way to reach parents who are virtually anonymous to the IRS. The Internal Revenue Service will start sending out checks of up to $300 per child every month to American families starting July 15 through 2021, it announced Monday. Families making $150,000 or less will receive the full benefit. Families making up to $400,000 will also receive some benefit. President Joe Biden, Democratic lawmakers and administration officials have repeatedly said the policy will cut child poverty in the United States by half. But the government has to find a way to ensure aid gets to the very poor something it has failed to do in the last year with similarly targeted financial relief.
