GREEN RIVER John Hastert, 62, of Rock Springs, has pleaded not guilty to charges of solicitation of prostitution and interference with a peace office stemming from an incident at the Clarion Hotel in Rock Springs last Thursday.
The former member of both the Wyoming House of Representative and Senate was arrested along with three other individuals following a sting operation involving multiple Wyoming law enforcement agencies.
The misdemeanor crimes combined carry a maximum penalty of 18 months in jail and $1,750 in fines. Court documents allege that Hastert was attempting to seek sexual favors from an undercover operative through an adult dating application known as skipthegames.com.

A former longtime state legislator and the current speaker pro tempore of the Wyoming House have been appointed to the state’s Enhanced Oil Recovery Commission, which oversees the University of Wyoming’s Enhanced Oil Recovery Institute.
Eli Bebout and Rep. Mike Greear, R-Worland, succeed outgoing commission members Ron Baugh and Sen. Drew Perkins, R-Casper.
Bebout, from Riverton, served as both president of the state Senate and speaker of the House during his lengthy legislative tenure. The Republican was his party’s nominee for governor in 2002.
During his legislative service, Bebout’s committee assignments included chairing the Joint Minerals Committee and the Senate Appropriations Committee, as well as the Joint Appropriations and the Senate Appropriations committees.
The Enhanced Oil Recovery Institute announced the appointment of two new Commission members, Fremont County’s own Eli Bebout, and Representative Mike Greear.
Eli Bebout is a veteran Wyoming politician and former President of the Wyoming State Senate, representing District 26 from Riverton, in Fremont County.

Republican Bebout is also a former member of the Wyoming House of Representatives, Speaker of the House, and his party’s nominee for governor in the 2002 general election.
Senator Bebout earned his B.S. in engineering from the University of Wyoming in 1969. In addition to his political career, he has worked as a petroleum engineer, a drilling contractor, and was the owner of Nucor Oil and Gas, Inc.

Wyoming is set to recognize decentralized autonomous organizations (DAOs) as a new type of limited liability companies starting July 1, potentially paving the way for accelerated adoption of its stance in other states across the US. The stateâs bill will allow extending both state and federal recognition to DAOs, similarly to those enjoyed by other businesses.

Shortly after Cynthia Lummis of Wyoming was elected to the U.S. Senate last November, a New York Times headline described Lummis as a “bull-coaxing conservative,” with a “libertarian streak”
The bull was Romeo, a resident of Lummis’ ranch, and Romeo was displaying a libertarian streak of his own.
Romeo needed to go to the vet for foot rot, but the aggressive, 2,000-pound bull had no intention of meekly walking into the waiting trailer. The Times reporter further indicated that Romeo was not in a good mood that day.
“A bull is too powerful to be forced to do anything,” the New York Times admiringly explained, “but he can be persuaded. So, Ms. Lummis approached Romeo, spoke to him very kindly and pulled the giant beast gently by the ear until he had boarded the trailer and was off to treatment.”
